Tuvok was at an early age infatuated with the daughter of a Vulcan ambassador and rebelled against vulcan logic and their way of supressing emotions. He was later sent to a Vulcan master, who taught him certain techniques, such as "intellectual reconstructions of emotional patterns" to keep his emotions under control.
Tuvok was assigned to the USS Excelsior after graduating from Starfleet Academy when he was 29, at year 2293. He has since served on U.S.S. Excelsior, U.S.S. Wyoming, Jupiter station and U.S.S. Billings. He was a teacher and cadet trainer at Starfleet Academy for 16 years before he was assigned to USS Voyager as chief of security in 2371. Janeway assigned Tuvok as a Federation infiltrator on the Maquis ship commanded by Chakotay in 2371 and he was able to obtain valuable information about maquis operations.
As a Vulcan, Tuvok relies on logic and he is one of Janeway’s most treasured friends as well as one of her most reliable crewmembers. He is married to T'Pel and is a father and a grandfather; he has three sons and a daughter with his wife. He is good friends with Seven which can be seen in i.e. episode Year of Hell and Tsunkatse. Her often plays the Vulcan game Kal-Toh with Harry and has never been defeated.
