Tom Paris is the son of Admiral Owen Paris, and joined starfleet academy some time in the 2360's.
He almost failed stellar chartography, received the grade B-minus in the course Survival Strategies, but also
found that he was highly skilled at piloting and holo-engineering. After gratuating from the academy, he was assigned to
USS Exeter. After a few years in Starfleet he falsified records to cover-up a pilot error that caused the deaths of three
officers at Caldik Prime. He was cleared of all suspicion but he later changed his mind and confessed what he had done,
and was discharged from Starfleet.
He joined the maquis after the discharge but was captured by Starfleet on his first
mission and was sent to a Federation Penal Settlement.
He was temporarily released from the Penal Settlement to serve as a scout during USS Voyager's mission to the
Badlands. Janeway granted him a field promotion to lieutenant, junior grade, after
Voyager was transported to the Delta Quadrant and he replaced Stadi, Voyager's deceased betazoid pilot.
Paris was the first person to pilot a shuttlecraft at warp 10, which made him mutate into a lizzard-like animal that had
a bunch of lizzard babies together with Janeway in 2372. They were both returned to their natural state, though.
Paris had during the first years of his time on USS Voyager some trouble with
conforming to Starfleet protocols, he was even demoted to ensign in 2375 for disobeying orders, but he later earned back
the grade of Lieutenant, junior grade.
He has been interested in women like Megan Delaney and Kes but he finally fell in love with, and married, B'Elanna Torres
in 2377. They had a baby girl together in 2378 called Miral. He has a special interest for creating holodeck programs, and
for 20th century American history. He and Harry Kim are friends and they both frequently participated in Tom's
holonovels such as The Adventures of Captain Proton and Fair Haven. Click here
